Interesting layered crystals of one of my favorite minerals!
It was supposed to be three or four random ideas on monochromatic themes but then I thought might as well do a whole rainbow (which had to be seven because I like it better than six and that meant pink was also in since I like to spite Newton and not do indigo ever… though now I feel bad for indicolite)
In order - Garnet, quartz/agate, wulfenite, peridot, euclase, polybasite and morganite.
Minerals and plants mixed into beautiful art!
Diwrnod 11: Tair cragen fylchog fawr yn cario tri thrysor blasus. Perffaith i ddechrau gwledd Nadolig!
Day 11: “We three Kings of Orient are…” they may not be from the Orient but these beautiful King Scallops might make a lovely starter for your Christmas Dinner.
King Scallops like the ones I found on the beaches of the Algarve and in the 25 million years old rocks forming the cliffs, caves and sea stacks, in Portugal!
Moeraki Boulders, New Zealand | #Geology #GeologyPage #NewZealand
The Moeraki Boulders are unusually large and spherical boulders lying along a stretch of Koekohe Beach on the wave-cut Otago coast of New Zealand between Moeraki and Hampden. They occur scattered either as isolated or clusters of boulders within a stretch of beach where they have been protected in a scientific reserve.
The erosion by wave action of mudstone, comprising local bedrock and landslides, frequently exposes embedded isolated boulders. These boulders are grey-colored septarian concretions, which have been exhumed from the mudstone enclosing them and concentrated on the beach by coastal erosion.

Colourful goethite one of my favorite minerals because of the colours in one small fragment!
